Navigating our way through a global pandemic, the likes of which many in Europe will have never experienced before is one thing, managing through a recovery is a new challenge. Difficult decisions around resourcing, working arrangements and go to market strategies along with the primary goal of keeping our people safe all take up valuable time.<\/p>
There are three key components which can be adopted to support this difficult time:<\/p>
1. Communicate with employees. Don\u2019t be afraid to talk openly with employees as to the challenges faced by the company. Where are the pressure points? Where do you need them to focus time and attention? Communicating openly and transparently fosters a sense of engagement and teamwork. Communication need not be a 60 minute \u2018death by power point\u2019 slide show \u2013 a more frequent but less intensive briefing is more conducive highlighting the salient points.<\/p>
2. Quick responsiveness to customer queries enable lines of communication to those customers to stay open. They, much like you, will be experiencing similar challenges and you are in a position to alleviate some pain. It wont be forgotten by the customer.<\/p>
3. Don\u2019t forget to build for the future. A road to recovery can be bumpy but retaining an eye of future endeavours and opportunities enables you to understand what will be required of you in the medium to long term. Will customer requirements change? Are there new opportunities to investigate and new contacts to establish? The fusion between short and medium to long term thinking is important. Creating time to step back from the here and now to think is beneficial.<\/p>
